Levelland Fire Report

8/19/25 - 1:30 P.M. - LEVELLAND

The LFD were dispatched to the smell of gas by a resident in the 100 block of Paxton Place. Upon arrival there was no odor detected. The area was checked with a Tri Gas Monitor before all units cleared the scene and returned to the station.

8/18/25 - 6 P.M. - HOCKLEY COUNTY

The LFD responded to the 800 block of U.S. Highway 385 after concerned resident reported a smoke detector beeping. Personnel advised the batteries were running low. All units then returned back to the station.

8/18/25 - 6 P.M. - HOCKLEY COUNTY

The LFD responded to a pumper fire in the 300 block of Impala. Mutual aid was received from Whiteface VFD and Smyer VFD. Efforts were made to safely control the fire and the area was deemed safe. Units also went to assist the LFD at a tank battery fire.

8/18/25 - 5 P.M. - HOCKLEY COUNTY

The LFD was sent to assist mutual aid at a tank battery fire near the 6000 block of FM 1585. Due to the size and intensity of the incident, multiple departments were called in to assist, including Smyer, Sundown, Meadow, Wolfforth, Morton and Whiteface fire departments. Crews worked together for nearly five hours to contain and extinguish the fire, ensuring the safety of the surrounding area.

8/16/25 - 1:30 A.M. - HOCKLEY COUNTY

The LFD was dispatched to a rollover near U.S. Highway 385 and FM 41. Upon arrival, the Hockley County Sheriff’s Office and DPS units were on the scene. There were no patients as the individuals involved had been picked up by another vehicle prior to fire personnel arrival. The LFD were released by DPS.

8/16/25 - 4:30 P.M. - LEVELLAND

Units were dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of Cactus after a report of a bed feeling like it was on fire. Units on scene checked for fire with none being found. All units were cleared and returned to the station.

8/15/25 - 10:30 P.M. - LEVELLAND

The LFD received a report of a CO-detector going off at a residence in the 100 block of Pat Street. Fire personnel checked the inside of the residence and detectors. No readings registered with the sensor and a CO-detector was found to have corroded battery terminals. The detector was also 10 years past its date of manufacture. The residents were advised to replace the unit. Units were cleared and returned to the station.

8/14/25 - 5:30 P.M. - LEVELLAND

Units were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 114 and Cedar. The scene was deemed safe upon arrival. The LFD cleared the scene and returned to the station.

8/13/25 - 6 P.M. - LEVELLAND

Dispatch advised there was a strong odor of gas reported from a residence in the 900 block of Avenue A. The occupants had vacated the house. Upon arrival the fire personnel checked the house as well as the gas meter in the alley and surrounding area. There were zero readings of any kind. The LFD determined there was a smell of sewage inside the house and advised the residents they might want to contact the landlord and have them check into the issue. Units were cleared and returned to the station.

8/9/25 - 3:30 P.M. - LEVELLAND

Dispatch advised there was a building on fire close to a residence near Avenue L and 4th Street. Units found a storage shed fully involved next to a fence, which was also on fire. The fire was contained to the shed and fence and did not reach any other structures.

8/6/25 - 1 A.M. - HOCKLEY COUNTY

The LFD arrived on scene around the 100 block of Alamo to a wrecked vehicle. Levelland PD reported arcing was coming from power lines next trailer house nearby. Fire personnel made contact with the homeowner. A hot stick was used to see if there were still hot wires. It was concluded there were still hot wires however not a life threatening situation or an imminent fire hazard. The LFD requested Lamb County to be notified about the issue. Fire personnel deemed the area safe.

8/6/25 - 11:30 A.M. - HOCKLEY COUNTY

The LFD arrived on scene around 4200 U.S. Hwy 82, where dispatched advised them of a small fire in the median at said location. Upon arrival, units found a patch of very thick grass burning that was contained to the median. The LFD quickly extinguished the fire while law enforcement units blocked traffic. Wolfforth Fire Department also arrived on scene before the LFD extinguishing the flames and deployed a hand line to assist. The LFD then cleared and returned to the station.
