Cotton & Crude Fest to offer big entertainment

The annual Cotton & Crude Festival will get underway this Saturday, Sept. 20 to celebrate Levelland and West Texas pride and heritage with a big concert.

Hosted by the Levelland Chamber of Commerce, the event will be held at Oxy Sports Complex starting at 5:30 p.m. Primarily a country music event, it features artists and local talent, often including South Plains College students and faculty.

County and western singer Randall King will be headlining alongside Will Banister, SPC Juke Box and the Hub City Drifter. A West Texas native and selfdescribed “old soul,” King will be bringing his own brand of honky-tonk and traditional country entertainment.

Will Banister will be performing and bringing the sounds of traditional country music and have people reminiscing about the days of country radio in the 1990’s, while still sounding fresh with today’s sounds.

Opening the concert will be The SPC Jukebox, also known as the Country Jukebox Ensemble, which is a student performance group within the Commercial Music program at South Plains College that offers real-world performance experience to students in various country, western swing, and southernstyle

country music genres.

Attendees can enjoy food trucks, bring their own food and drinks (no glass), and relax on lawn chairs while enjoying the music under the West Texas sky.

Tickets for the event are $55 at the gate; however, children under 10 will be admitted free. Cooler passes are also available for $20, and guests are reminded that pets and glass containers will not be allowed.
