Levelland PD issues scam alert

The Levelland Police Department (LPD) is warning residents of a scam that is currently circulating in the area.

LPD was informed that a citizen recently received a phone call from someone claiming to be from a “legal company” that was attempting to deliver a citation related to their property.

During the call, the individual requested the citizen’s social security number and implied they were working with the City of Levelland. When questioned, the caller falsely stated that they were employed by the city.

LPD urges citizens to remember that the City of Levelland will never call to deliver citations or demand payment over the phone.

Additionally, it is critical to never share personal or financial information such as social security numbers, financial information or other important data.

Anyone receiving a suspicious call should immediately hang up and report it to law enforcement.

Citizens safety and security are our priority. Stay vigilant, protect your information, and help spread the word so others don’t fall victim to this scam.
