The Hockley County Commissioner’s Court convened for the regular meeting on Sept. 22 to approve monthly reports, bonds and agreements.
The first order of business was the approval of the minutes from the Sept. 15 meeting as well as the current monthly bills and claims.
In other action, commissioners approved the Assignment and Assumption Agreement between Hockley County and Methodist Hospital dba Covenant Levelland EMS, Covenant Health System dba Covenant Ambulance Services. Texas counties can enter into agreements with other entities, like private EMS providers, municipalities, or hospital districts, to provide emergency ambulance services under Texas Local Government Code Chapter 774, which allows commissioners courts to contract for these services using county funds.
These agreements ensure service delivery in areas where counties may lack direct resources, requiring the partner entity to meet specific standards, including providing proof of contract with the county for the specific service area.
Commissioners approved a contract between TechShare and the 289th District Attorney and the Hockley County Attorney’s offices. TechShare is a program developed with direct input from the county government agencies that use them daily and designed for agencies in the justice system.
A representative from CCMS CPAs & Advisors PLLC presented the 2024 Audited Financial Statement to commissioners. The report was accepted and approved.
Commissioners approved the official bond and oath and rider for Jennifer Rodriguez, Deputy Clerk at the Hockley County Tax Assessor/Collector office.
In other action, following a short discussion, commissioner approved an application to request the use of the courthouse lawn by Levelland Main Street for the Ladies Night Out Shopping event to be held on Nov. 13 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., and for the Marigolds for Christmas on the Square scheduled for Dec. 4 from noon to 10 p.m.
Commissioners approved monthly reports as submitted by the county district and county clerks, county auditor and Justice of the Peace Precincts 1,2,4 and 5. Concerning a road crossing for Texland Petroleum on South Barton Lane located in Precinct 1, commissioners gave their approval.
