Lobo Football finishes plus four turnovers in district win over Perryton

The Levelland Lobos were on the road to Perryton on Friday Night to take on the Rangers for their second district game.

Levelland would finish plus four in the turnover category, and would win the game in a shoot-out 53-to-43.

The first two drives each team would turn the ball over on downs, and then Perryton would score on a seven play drive capped off by a one yard run by Kaiden Willis.

Levelland would punt, and Perryton would have a 40 yard field goal attempt blocked by the Lobos.

With seven seconds left in the first the Lobos would start their first scoring drive.

Ten plays and a two-yard QB sneak and Ethan Salazar would put the Lobos on the board in the second quarter.

Then five plays later Matthew Guillen would have a 40 yard pick six giving the Lobos their first lead on the night with a score of 13-to-seven with 7:25 left in the first half.

Perryton would score eight plays later on a 28 yard pass from Cooper Schilling to Jaxten Castanon.

Levelland would again take the lead eight plays later with a one yard sneak by Salazar. Perrton would march accross the field in 35 seconds but Schilling would be picked off by Bryson Golightly in the endzone to lead at the half 19-to-14 over the Rangers.

The second half would be back and forth scoring drives with Perryton scoring four more times, and Levelland scoring five more times.

The Lobos would get another interception each from Golightly and Kaden Brogden.

The Perryton scoring drives included 14 yard touchdown run by Schilling, a six yard pass from Schilling to Gordo Estrada, a five yard pass from Schilling to Estrada and a 80 yard pass from Schilling to Estrada.

The Levelland scoring drive included a 42 yard pass from Salazar to Bentley Sepulbeda, a three yard run by Noah Martin, a 36 yard pass from Salazar to Brogden, a two yard sneak by Salazar and a four yard run by Jake Potter.

Levelland would win the game with a final score of 53-to-43 over Perryton.

Levelland would finish with a total run game of 312 yards, 196 yards through the air for a total offense of 508 with five rushing touchdowns two passing touchdowns.

The Lobos would finish with nine penalties for 80 yards and plus four in the turnover category.

Perryton would finish with 168 yards on the ground, 418 yards through the air for a total offense of 586 yards with two rushing touchdowns, four passing touchdowns and four interceptions.

The Rangers would finish with six penalties for 55 yards.

Perryton will fall to three-and-six on the year, and oh-and-three in district play, as the Rangers have the BYE on Friday.

Levelland improves to fiveand-three overall and a district record of one-and-one.
