Kenneth Duane 'Stubby' Whittenburg, born June 4, 1943, in Whiteface, Texas, went home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 2, 2025, in Marshfield, Missouri, at the age of 82.
Stubby grew up in Whiteface with his six brothers and two sisters, embodying the spirit of family and community from a young age. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1964 during the presidency of his hero John F. Kennedy. His dedication to service was a defining part of his life.
After his time in the Navy, Stubby lived in Las Vegas, Nevada for many years, working at the Nevada Test Site, Whittenburg Construction, and the VFW. He later moved to Missouri, where he operated a trucking company for many years, continuing his hardworking spirit and commitment to his family.
Stubby is survived by his former wife, Brenda Smith, and their daughters, Stacey Wolfe, Michele Whittenburg (Gregg Peterson), and Tami Whittenburg Utities, former wife Cynthia (Cindy) Whittenburg, and their children, Trisha Tindall, Trina Trueblood (Lerone), Kenneth (Buddy) Whittenburg II, and Crystle Whittenburg.
He was a beloved grandfather to Jordan Whittenburg, Dylan Whittenburg, Antonio (Tony) Bilyeu, Isak Mode, Jesika Beverly, Demi Whittenburg, Arabella (Bella) Whittenburg, Makaya Trueblood, Mersaytees Clair, Alexandria (Rosie) Whittenburg, Cooper Trueblood, Rachel Peterson, Joseph Utities, Shiloh Peterson, Avery Tindall, Jayah Trueblood, Anastasia Whittenburg, August Whittenburg, and Aurora Whittenburg, and greatgrandchildren, Indy Bilyeu, Luna Whittenburg, Hope Mode, and Oliver Bilyeu.
Stubby is also survived by his brothers, Vernon Whittenburg and Claude Whittenburg, and his sister, Helen Rankin.
Stubby’s pride and joy were his his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He lived a life of service, and hard work. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of his life will be held November 8th at 1:00 PM at Second Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 301 Cherry St, Levelland, Tx 79336
