Major livestock show season is fast approaching as 4-H and FFA students get ready for events across the state of Texas, including those in Hockley and Cochran County.
These premier livestock shows celebrate Texas’s rich agricultural heritage while supporting the next generation of farming through youth programs and scholarships. Exhibitors for the local county and major Texas spring shows typically sign up through the Hockley County Extension Office, usually in the late fall The Hockley County Jr. Livestock Show is on the calendar for Jan.21-22, 2026 at the Mallet Event Center.
The specific January 2026 schedule for the Hockley County show has not been released, but it is expected in early to mid-January 2026, with the rabbit show scheduled for Jan. 21. The Cochran County Livestock Show is set to be held on Jan. 8-10 at the Cochran County show Barn.
