Nov. 20
Fire Department dispatched to the 800 block of Ave H in regards to a smoke detector that had gone off for 30=40 minutes in an unknown apartment. Area was checked and no alarm was found, smoke or indication of fire. Scene was cleared and responders returned to the station.
Fire Department B-14 dispatched to the 6700 block of Hwy 84, B-14 for a report of a fire. Upon arrival, responders confirmed the fire had been extinguished by Anton VFD. B-14 conducted a scene assessment and confirmed there were no hazards remaining. Scene was turned over to proper authorities and B-14 returned to station.
Fire department B-14 was dispatched to the 2000 block of 114 for reports of heavy smoke. Upon arrival, crews conducted investigation of structures, alleyways and open fields and found no active fire, smoke source or hazards. Area was monitored for hidden fire or ongoing threat and scene was cleared. Units returned to station.
Nov. 21
Fire Department E-8 was dispatched to the100 block of Alamo for a structure fire. Fire department was notified of a fire the previous night that had been put out. E8 arrived to find light smoke at a single-story residence, gained entry to investigate for hot spots in the ceiling and found burned insulation in the living room and laundry room. Units salvaged property for homeowners by pulling all the ceiling in the living and laundry room for extensions. Units were cleared and returned to station.
Fire Department B-12 was dispatched to the 4000 block of India, for a cotton fire. Upon arrival, crews found smoke coming a from cotton module. B-12 put 1,500 gallons of water on module until no smoke was evident. B-12 cleared the scene and returned to the station.
Fire Department E8 was dispatched to the1800 block of S. College for a smoke alarm. Responders were advised by occupant a shower had set off the alarm. E8 cleared the scene and returned to station.
Nov. 22
Fire Department was dispatched to the 700 block of Cherry St. for a fire alarm activation. Responders found fire personnel installing new detectors for Red Cross and the call was cancelled.
Nov. 23
Fire Department was dispatched to the100 block of Elgin to assist EMS. Upon arrival, personnel assisted packaging and loading the patient in the ambulance, cleared the scene and returned to station.
Fire Department was dispatched to College Ave. and Hwy 114 to assist LPD with an auto accident and was advised EMS was covered and unable to provide initial response. After arriving at scene, responders checked all patients and relayed information to EMS personnel arriving on scene. Crews assisted directing traffic until wrecker arrived on scene and reopened highway.
Nov. 24
Fire Department dispatched to the 200 Block of N. College for a smoke alarm. Upon arrival crew was advised that the staff had been cooking and set the alarm off. Responders cleared the scene and returned to the station.
Nov. 29
Fire Department dispatched to the 500 Block of Ave I, for smoke coming from a dumpster. Crew confirmed smoke from dumpster, doused the fire and cleared the scene and returned to the station.
Nov. 30
Fire Department e-7 and B-14 were dispatched for a reported smoke scare in the area of FM1490 and FM 597, E-7. Upon arrival, both units investigated the area and surrounding structures and found no smoke, fire or hazardous conditions. The scene was cleared and units returned to station.
Dec. 1
Fire Department B-14, R-4 and C-2 were dispatched to the1800 Block of Hwy 385, B- 14, R-4, and C-2 to a reported two-vehicle motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, crews found two vehicles involved with no reported injuries, with both drivers out of vehicles and ambulatory and no hazards present. Personnel assisted by moving one of the vehicles out of the roadway to clear traffic flow and provided traffic control assistance until the scene was deemed safe. Units returned to the station.
Dec. 2
Fire Department E-8 was dispatched to the 200 Block of Ave M for a reported smell of gas in the area. Upon arrival, the crew made contact with the reporting party and investigated the location with a multi-gas detector for the presence of natural gas or hazardous vapors; all reading were normal and no gas detected and the scene was deemed safe. Units returned to station.
Fire Department was dispatched to the 3500 block of Nightingale for a report of an electrical plug and wall that was heating up. Responders found no fire or smoke and used a thermal imager to check for any damage or extension and turned off all breakers powering appliances and advised the homeowner to leave them off until checked by an electrical professional. The scene was cleared and units returned to station.
Fire Department was dispatched to the 1500 block of 12th St. for reports of someone throwing fire. Upon arrival. Responders found no fire present and after investing the scene determined that the battery on an electric bicycle had caught fire and the owner had extinguished the fire. Responders checked the battery and made sure there was no fire present. Units cleared the scene and returned to station.
Dec. 3
Fire Department was dispatched to the 500 block of W. Jackson for a reported smell of gas. Crews conducted an investigation of the area with a gas meter detector and all readings registered normal inside and outside the structure. After monitoring the area, the scene was cleared and units returned to station.
Fire Department was dispatched to the 600 block of S. College to a two-vehicle motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, crews confirmed that both vehicles were safely off the roadway and assessed the scene for hazards and assisted with traffic control as well as checking for fire hazards, fluid leaks, or additional risks. Once the vehicles were cleared off the roadway, units returned to station.
Fire Department was dispatched to the 700 block of S. College to a reported multi- vehicle accident. Crews assessed the scene for hazards and confirmed there was no fire threat and assisted with traffic control. Once EMS arrived on scene to assume patient care and the scene was stabilized, units returned to the station.
Dec. 5
Fire Department was dispatched to FM 1585 and FM 2646 to reports of a multi-vehicle accident. While in route, units were advised that one of the vehicles was on fire. Upon arrival, crews found a semi-truck and trailer with the cab and engine compartment fully engulfed in flames. Responders extinguished the fire and assisted with traffic control. After the wrecker arrived and scene was cleared, units returned to station.
Fire Department was dispatched to FM 303 and First St. to a report of a vehicle accident. Upon arrival, responders found Sundown VFD controlling traffic. Levelland responders assisted with traffic control and with patient care once EMS arrived. Levelland was cleared from the scene and returned to station.
Ride Department was dispatched to Robert E Lee and Veretto Rd. for a report of a trailer fire. Upon arrival crews found no smoke or fire and used a thermal to check for extension. The scene was cleared and units returned to station.
Dec. 6
Fire Department B-14 was dispatched to the 500 block of E Jackson, B-14 to a reported smell of gas. Personnel investigated the scene visually and with gas detection equipment and all readings were normal with no detection of gas. Crews monitored the area and cleared the scene and returned to station.
Fire Department B-14 was dispatched to the 200 block of W. Adams for a reported gas leak. Upon arrival, personnel made contact with the resident, who stated he had turned off the gas supply. Crews conducted a full inspection of the area using gas detection equipment, and no gas was detected inside or outside the structure. ATMOS Energy was requested to the scene for further evaluation. Unit returned to station.
Dec. 7
Fire Department was dispatched to the 700 block of 11th St. for a report of baby locked in a vehicle. LPD advised they received a call stating it was baby locked in the car and later the RP called to advise it was a dog. . LPD was advised LFD could not open the vehicle and to call a bush wrecker or locksmith. Upon arrival, crews found no child and the caller admitted to telling LPD it was child. Unit returned to station.
Dec. 8
Fire Department B-14 was dispatched to the 400 block of Ave B regarding smoke at the location with no visible flames., possibly in backyard. Upon arrival, crew observed the occupant using a metal cooking grill in backyard and confirmed there was no emergency. Unit returned to station.
Dec. 9
Fire Department B-14 was dispatched to the 700 block of Hwy 114 to a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, crew conducted an interior investigation and found evidence of a localized fire involving a printer and surrounding construction materials which was accidentally started from a heat gun. Crew members had extinguished the fire prior to LFD arrival but left minor fire and heat damage in the work area. Fire personnel communicated with the onsite construction manager and advised them to notify LFD of future fire incidents. The scene was cleared and unit returned to station.
Fire Department T-9, B14 and B-12 were dispatched for a mutual aid request from the Anton VFD in the 6000 block of FM 597 for a large grass fire. Upon arrival, Anton VFD was attempting to suppress an advancing fire spreading across open land and moving toward multiple property lines after a controlled burn became uncontained. A maintainer was brought in to cut a fire line and fire crews coordinated water supply operations; Levelland deployed hose lines. Approximately 8,500 gallons were used by LFD before the fire was contained. Approximately 40 acres were burned.Firefighters remained on scene for an extended period conducting overhaul, extinguishing hot spots, and ensuring no potential existed for rekindle. All departments communicated effectively throughout the incident, allowing for a coordinated and efficient firefighting effort across multiple jurisdictions. No injuries were reported to firefighters or civilians. The scene was cleared and LFD units returned to station.
