Hancock distributes sales tax allocations

Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock announced today he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.2 billion in local sales tax allocations for December, 7.5 percent more than in December 2024.

These payments represent funds identified for local jurisdictions since the previous month’s distribution. When used with other local indicators, these reports may help indicate present and future economic trends.

Locally in Hockley County, Ropesville saw the biggest increase in sales tax revenue from the same period last year with a 22.75% increase, receiving $17,432. Levelland received$431,853 in sales tax revenue, up by 2.65% from the same period last year, and Anton received $9,011, up by 3.65%.

Sales tax revenue went down in Opdyke West received $386, down by 0.09%; Smyer received $6,508, down by -11.07%; and Sundown received $33,381, down by -25.59%.

In Cochran County, Morton increased sales tax revenue by 10.42%, receiving $13,464; and Whiteface was up 26%, receiving $3,303.

Statewide, cities received $770.0 million, up by 7% from the same period last year; counties, $75.7 million, up by 5.8%; transit systems, $262.6 million, up by 7%; and special purpose districts, $128.1 million, up by 13.1%. Overall, the yearto- date change is 5.1% or $1.2 billion.
