Arnulfo “Ernie” Arias Cera, beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend, passed away on Dec. 3, 2025. He was born on February 12, 1986, in Lubbock, Texas, to Benjamin and Bertha (Arias) Cera. Ernie filled the lives of those around him with warmth, laughter, and a generous heart. His relationship with God shaped his compassion, and brought him peace.
Ernie earned his Associates of Science in Culinary Arts, and cooking quickly became one of the ways he expressed love to his family and friends.
Music was another central part of Ernie’s life he loved listening to music, sharing it, and especially playing his guitar, filling family gatherings with melodies and joy.
He also loved being outdoors and living life fully. Ernie enjoyed hiking, taking in the beauty of nature with gratitude. A devoted soccer fan, he loved playing whenever he could and proudly cheered for his favorite team, the Mexico national soccer team, celebrating each match with passion and pride.
Ernie was preceded in death by his mother, Bertha Cera, who passed away on April 24, 2023. He is survived by his father, Benjamin Cera; his sisters, Rachel Cera Ketcherside and husband Jody, and Claudia Cera Wall and husband Jonas; and his longtime partner, Raquel Padilla, who remained faithfully by his side.
He was a loving uncle to four nephews and two nieces, including a nephew he cherished deeply, as well as a proud great-uncle to three great-nephews and five great-nieces. His playful spirit, loving heart, and gentle presence made him a treasured part of their lives.
Ernie lived with a deep love for his family and faith. He expressed it in the meals he cooked, the songs he played, the moments he shared, and the kindness he offered so freely. His absence leaves a tremendous void, but his legacy of love, faith, and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
