Hockley County Aggie Alumni, families, friends, and live choral music fans will have the opportunity to hear the internationally acclaimed Texas A&M Singing Cadets on Jan. 6. The show is set for 6:30 p.m.
The Wallace Theater will be hosting the “Voice of Aggieland who are now entering their 123rd touring season.
“We are thrilled to welcome the 60 members of the Singing Cadets to the Wallace Theater. This will be the largest performance on stage to date and will be incredible to experience in our intimate historic venue,” said Alycyn Keeling, executive director of the Wallace Theater and proud Texas A&M alumnus, Class of 2007. “As an Aggie, I admire the deep tradition, discipline, and heart embodied by these talented singers.”
“Hosting them on the Wallace Theater stage in our first season is an honor. It is especially significant because of the historic tie to the theater. Wallace Blankenship, the man who built the theater and subsequently the largest small-town theater chain in America in 1954, attended Texas A&M in the early 1920s. Mr. Blankenship had a passion for sound engineering and built all the sound equipment for his 30+ theaters. This performance brings the Wallace’ s past, present, and future together in a special way.”
“We are both honored and excited to be performing at the Wallace Theater. Sharing the gift of music with different communities throughout the state of Texas is what we work for all year, and we are thankful for the hospitality that Wallace Theater has shown in providing us the opportunity to perform,” added president of the Texas A& M Singing Cadets Jackson Hake. “ Even more so, we are thrilled to bring a piece of Aggieland to a venue with so many ties to the Aggie family. We look forward to seeing you there!”
