Jan. 1
Fire Department was dispatched to the block of Martin Luther King for child calling for a shoe in a tree.
Fire Department was dispatched to Hwy 114 and County Road regarding a report of a small grass fire or box on fire in the parking lot. Upon arrival, crew found a small box of fireworks that were smoldering, which was soaked with water. Scene cleared and returned to station.
Jan. 4
Fire Department was dispatched to the 1000 block of FM 300 regarding a stove fire that was already extinguished. Upon arrival, crew found no smoke or fire. Occupants were advised of the fire and upon entering there was a small area above the stove that had been burned in the kitchen. Crew investigate and located a rag that had been used to extinguish the fire smoldering behind the door in a difference room. Crew removed rag and began to run PPV fans in the kitchen to clear it of smoke. Once temperature was reasonable, all units cleared the scene and returned to station.
Jan. 5
Fire Department B14 and S11 were dispatched to Hwy 385 and America regarding multiple reports of a possible H2S gas odor. Units were initially paged for the odor earlier in the day and conducted an investigation. Air monitoring was performed with detection equipment, but crews were unable to locate a source. Units cleared at that time. Later, B14 and S11 were dispatched a second time for reports in the same area. Crews conducted an expanded size-up and additional air monitoring and found the source in the middle of a cotton field. Hydrogen sulfide readings were detected. The area was isolated for scene safety and personnel operated with PPE while securing the scene. The area was monitored until readings teturned to safe levels. Once the scene was cleared for safety, units returned to station.
Jan. 6
Fire Department was dispatched to the 1800 block of FM 1490 regarding the smell of gas located at 1859 FM 1490. Upon arrival, crew was able to smell a slight odor, but unable to detect a hazardous gas level. Crew searched the area and discovered it was near a previous issue that was being repaired. The scene was cleared and units returned to station.
Fire Department dispatched to the 800 block of Sherman regarding reports of smoke coming from a backyard. Upon arrival, crew found smoke coming from a hole and made contact with homeowner to advise it wasn’t legal, After homeowner extinguished fire, crew cleared the scene and returned to station.
Jan. 7
Fire Department B14 was dispatched to the1500 block of Hardhat in Sundown to provide mutual aid assistance to the Sundown Fire Department for a reported pumpjack fire. Upon arrival, Sundown VFD had established incident command and was actively operating on the fire. LFD B14 was assigned to assist Sundown VFD with fire suppression including the application of 300 gallons of water and 5 gallons of foam to suppress the fire and cool surrounding equipment. After extinguished, crew assisted with overhaul to ensure no additional hazards were observed. Upon completion of operation, LFD B-14 was released from scene and returned to station.
Fire Department B14 and E8 were dispatched to the 400 block of Ave B regarding a call about an unknown type of fire in the backyard. Upon initial arrival, fire crew observed fire and smoke coming from an add-on building to an original residential structure and began immediate knockdown of the fire from outside the building. No fire involvement was observed to main residential structure. Crew began immediate knockdown of fire from outside of building. No fire involvement was observed to main residential structure. Dispatch was advised of tap out and E8 crew assisted in overhaul. Following investigation, crew cleared scene and returned to station.
