County commissioners hold regular meeting

The Hockley County Commissioner’s Court met on Monday to discuss a series of ordinances and approvals.

During the meeting the court considered taking action to accept a letter of resignation from constable Edith J. Kinney, Precinct Four, which would ultimately come into effect on Jun 30. The letter was approved by the court.

The court discussed possible action concerning the approval for the use of the courthouse lawn for three different subjects.

Levelland Ministerial Alliance Alliance was approved by the court for May 7. St. Michael Catholic Church was approved for April 3, and Levelland City Council was approved for Levelland Listens for April 7.

Commissioners discussed an issue across Hockley County with Texas Water Department Board members. The issue was presented as flooding continues to be a persistent problem across Texas with a plan for fixes. The subject will move forward as the Hockley County Drainage Master Plan if approved by the court, which will be voted on next Monday.

The final commissioners court discussion covered potential actions regarding the renewal of the Texas Association of Counties risk management and affected properties and will vote on the matter the following Monday.

The court approved all monthly bills and claims submitted to the court up to Mar 23.
