Levelland High School LOC students recently competed at the Region 17 Job Olympics and were named champions.
LOC advisor Kristy VanZandt-Scoggins said her students competed alongside 18 other schools to win the title.
Individual placings included Hannah Wilde-Jones, first place in both job application and making change; RJ Bermea, second place in rolling silverware; Aubrey Waygood, third place in vacuuming; Zalian Williams, first place in bussing and setting tables; Keiran Hallett, first place in typing; and Breanna Robinson, first place in hanging clothes.
Job Olympics is a hands-on, school-based event designed to help life skills students build the vocational and functional skills needed for a successful transition into adulthood. From folding towels to completing job applications, these students have been hard at work practicing real-world skills in the classroom and putting them to the test in competition.
The goal of the Job Olympics is simple but powerful: prepare students for the workforce in a fun, engaging way, while building confidence and independence that will carry over into reallife jobs.
