The South Plains College rodeo program hosted the SPC Rodeo this past Thursday through Saturday at the Mallet Event Center & Arena, and the SPC competitors shined on their home turf.
In the women’s all round, Zaran Kirkpatrick placed first with a total score of 115 with 40 points from a seventh-place finish in breakaway roping with a total time of 8.5 and 75 points from a sixth-place finish in goat tying with a total time of 15.1.
In the goat tying, Katie Knez placed fourth with a time of 6.7 in the short go and 13.9 total, and Sierra Telford placed eighth with a time of 6.9 in her first go and 18.8 total.
In the breakaway roping, Kassidy Robertson placed fifth with a total time of 102.5 after a 2.5 in her first go.
In the team roping, Jaxon Stoker and Levi Sasser placed first with a time of 7.1 in their first go and 23.1 total, Trey Adams and a Texas Tech partner placed third with a time of 5.3 in their first go and 105.3 total, and Jantsen Morris and Jayden Morris placed fourth with a time of 5.8 in their first go and 105.8 total.
Those performances earned the Texans 390 team points, which resulted in a third-place team finish, and the Lady Texans earned 190 team points, which resulted in a second-place team finish.
Both programs now enter a sizeable off period from competition as their next on the schedule is the College National Finals Rodeo from June 14-20 at the Ford Wyoming Center in Casper, Wyoming.
