Young Texan Ambassador program now accepting applications

Keep Texas Beautiful is now accepting applications for its Young Texan Ambassador program. Texans ages from 15 to 25, are invited to get involved in improving their local communities.

The program, supported locally by Keep Levelland Beautiful and the Levelland Chamber of Commerce, encourages participants to take part in litter prevention and community beautification efforts across the state.

The selected ambassadors will commit to a year of service, which includes organizing at least one litter clean up, completing a community project, promoting their efforts on social media and attending educational workshops hosted by Keep Texas Beautiful. The program aims to develop young leaders, while raising awareness about the importance of maintaining clean and sustainable communities.

According to Keep Texas Beautiful, ambassadors have contributed more than $100,000 in economic impact, logged 2,966 volunteer hours, diverted 10,744 pounds of litter and cleaned 115 miles across Texas Keep Texas Beautiful is a nonprofit organization focused on community improvement through cleanup initiatives, education and volunteer engagement.

Keep Texas Beautiful traces back to 1967, when state leaders launched the Beautify Texas Council ahead of the 1968 HemisFair in San Antonio to ensure visitors would see a clean and welcoming state. The effort grew through strong volunteer support and expanded its focus to include environmental education, highway beautification and community partnerships.

In 1985, Keep Texas Beautiful, Inc., became a state affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, and has since grown into the largest environmental and community improvement network in Texas.

Locally, Keep Levelland Beautiful works to enhance the city’s appearance and quality of life through partnerships, education and beautification efforts.
