Donald Campbell Yarbrough died peacefully in Katy Texas at age 87 on February 5, 2023. He was surrounded in his last days by his loving wife, sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren.
Don was born in Baird Texas, the youngest of five boys, to Ruth Camilla Yarbrough and Ocie Clyde Yarbrough. Don graduated from Weslaco Texas High School and attended college at McMurray College in Abilene. That is where he met the love of his life Virginia Davis. After graduation, they married on August 16,1957 in Panhandle Tx. Don went on to attend and graduate from SMU with a theology degree. His education continued later with a master’s degree from Texas Tech University.
Don and Virginia welcomed three boys into the world: Donald Perry, Steve, and Scott. After graduating from SMU, he became a Methodist minister and Youth Minister in Vera, Lamesa, and Levelland. He was also a school counselor in Lamesa Texas. Don, Virginia and the boys moved to Levelland Texas in 1968 where he accepted a counseling position at South Plains College. He later became the Dean of Continuing Education at South Plains College. He loved his work at South Plains where he touched so many lives and worked there until his retirement in 2006.

was a member of the Kiwanis club, a director of Senior Citizens and Meals on Wheels. He and Virginia are members of Christ United Methodist Church. Over the years, he ministered to many young couples with counseling and marriage officiating. He was an amazing educator, preacher, and counselor.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Virginia and his three sons: Donald Perry and his wife Lori, Steve and his wife Sherry, and Scott and his wife Sandi. Don and Virginia have 7 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Don was an inspiration and a loving, gentle father and grandfather. A memorial service for the family will be held in Katy Texas.
