Gerald Wayne Thomas, 83, of Levelland, Texas, passed away on June 29, 2023. He was born on September 21, 1939, in Garland, Arkansas. Gerald had a great sense of humor and was very sensitive and artistic. He had a passion for horses, trout fishing in Colorado, and painting. In his earlier years, Gerald worked at the telephone company before pursuing his true passion. He embarked on a successful career, co-founding a Quarter Horse Stud Farm with his partner, Marion Duncan. Additionally, Gerald was an accomplished artist, showcasing his talent and creativity through his artwork.
Gerald Thomas is survived by his older sister, Thelma Williams of Atlanta, Texas, who he was very close to throughout his life, even sharing a bed when he was a small child. He is also survived by his nephews, Michael and Steven Thomas, whom he took in and raised as his own when their father died. In addition, he is survived by four nieces and numerous other great- and greatgreat nieces and nephew. Gerald had a remarkable ability to form deep connections, and his friends were like family to him. Their love and support meant the world to him.
Gerald is preceded in death by his mother, Grace Thomas, his father, Byron Thomas, his brother, Billy Ray Thomas, and his brother, Byron Gayle Thomas.
A memorial service to celebrate Gerald's life will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 2:00 pm at 3558 Justin Road, Levelland, Texas. There will be a graveside service at Shiloh Cemetery in Texarkana, AR at a later date.
Gerald Wayne Thomas will be remembered for his vibrant personality, his love for horses and art, and his unwavering dedication to his family and friends. He has left a lasting impact on all those who had the privilege of knowing him. May his soul rest in peace. Gerald will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
