Funeral services for Maria M. Vargas of Sundown will be held Friday, August 4, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Father Jonathan Phillips will be the officiant. A Rosary will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at Head Duarte Funeral Home Chapel in Levelland. Interment will follow at the City of Sundown Cemetery in Sundown, Texas.
Maria was born to Federico and Guadalupe Montelongo on May 6, 1956 in Falengton, Texas.
She married Manuel Vargas on January 19, 1979 in Levelland, Texas, they moved to Sundown in 2023. Maria was a homemaker and enjoyed playing bingo, eating sweet bread and watching CSI and Walker Texas ranger. Maria will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents Federico and Guadalupe Montelongo.
She is survived by her spouse of forty-nine years Manuel Vargas of Sundown, seven daughters, six sons, 48 grandchildren, 25 great grand children and two sisters.
