LUZ GARZA Luz Garza 61, of Levelland passed from this life February 17. Visitation was held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m on Wednesday, February 21, at Head Duarte Funeral home Chapel. Rosary will be held on Thursday February 22, at 7 p.m. at the Duarte Funeral Home and Chapel. Officiating will be Father Jonathan Phillips. Music will be by Joe Flores.
Funeral Services will be held February 23, at 10 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Levelland. Interment followed in the Levelland Cemetery.
She was born April 22, 1962 in Levelland, to Luz and Celia Gonzalez Barrera.
Luz, graduated from Whitharral High School and continued her education attending South Plains College where she received her Pharmacy Technician certification.
She worked for Baggett’s Pharmacy for over 2 years, Lowe’s Pharmacy for 4 years in Littlefield, South Plains Rural Health Pharmacy and Family Dollar in Levelland as store Mgr. for several years. Her hobbies were counted cross stitch, puzzles, Candy Crush, Solitaire, Football, and enjoyed horse back riding during her younger years. Luz, loved spending time with all of her grandchildren.
Luz was preceded in death by Parents: Luz and Celia Gonzalez Barrera (2) Sisters: Stella Garza and Jeanne Rodriguez (3) Brothers: Abel Barrera, Louis Barrera and Danny Barrera.
She is survived by her husband Osmundo Garza of Levelland Daughter : Stephanie Garza of Lubbock Granddaughters: Audrey Celestina Gill of Levelland, Alexis Marie Gill of Ropesville, and Anayeli Garza of Lubbock Grandson: Ivan Adam Escobedo of Lubbock Great Granddaughter: Alana Reyna Sisters: Lilia (Gary) Chavez of Whitharral, Aurora Hopkins and Isabel Chavez both of Levelland. Brothers: Benny Barrera of Lubbock and Jesse (Prissy) Barrera Of Giddings.
