James Bee Harmon was born on May 19, 1942 in Dustin, Oklahoma.
He lived on a farm near Dustin during his young childhood years but spent the majority of his life in Levelland. He graduated from Levelland High School and then proudly served four years in the United States Army.
He married Barbara Brockman, with whom they had and raised two daughters. Throughout his life, James enjoyed gardening, fishing, watching the Dallas Cowboys, playing bingo and he never turned down an opportunity to visit a casino or take a chance on a scratch-off ticket. James had a strong work ethic and was proud to say he successfully took care of his family, “my girls never did without.” He worked for Dotco

and then for the John Montford Correctional Facility, where he retired from the state.
James adored the Levelland area, where he continued to live until 2019, at which time his health needs warranted moving to the Dallas area in order to be closer to family. He took pride in that his many years of hard work had paid off, as he lived independently until he peacefully passed away in his sleep on February 3, 2024. A private family memorial sercvice will be held at a later date.
James is preceded in death by his parents, Bee and Mae Harmon, sister June Harmon and sister Jean Strickland Harmon. He is survived by his sister Carol Rhea and brother Joe Harmon as well as daughters, Sherrie Harmon, Stacy Tillery and granddaughter Kiley Tillery.
He will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews and friends from his family of origin as well as the family members he gained through his marriage to Barbara. Most describe James Harmon as “a good man, hardworking, generous, with good morals and who greeted all.
