Funeral services planned for Homer Hood Mc Neal, 87

Mr Homer Hood Mc Neal, 87 of Levelland passed from this life on May 2, in Levelland.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday May 15, at 1 p.m. at Head Duarte Funeral Home Chapel in Levelland. Officiating will be Brother E. G. Landbright. Music will be by Joe Flores and Eleso Chapa. Interment will be in City of Levelland Cemetery. Pallbearers are Steve Castillo, Michael Castillo, Mathew Peck, Tony Loa Jr. Leroy Campos and Rick Waygood. Reflections of life and visitation will be held Tuesday, May 14, from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. at the Funeral Home Chapel in Levelland.

Homer was born to Recice and Margie Ila Hood McNeal on January 9, 1937 in Childress, Texas Homer Hood , went home to be with our savior in eternal heaven on Thursday May 2, in Levelland.

Homer Hood Mc Neal, graduated from Lubbock High School. Homer, enlisted in the United States Army on December 2, 1959 until March 1, 1962 serving in the later part of the Vietnam War era. He married the love of his life Margaret Salazar on March 29, 1983 in Lubbock and they shared seven children from this union. Homer, after his tour in the U.S. Army worked for Fields Engineer of Lubbock as a welder for 10 years. He and his brother in law started their own Company Caprock Equipment Co. in 1985 for several years. Homer also worked for Caprock Mill Equipment in Lubbock working on the elevators in Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma and surrounding areas for several years.

He was a professional welder. He drove for South Plains Ford Dealership transporting cars and trucks for over 8 years in Levelland.

He retired in 2011 from all his jobs. His hobbies were attending Fairview Baptist Church, traveling to California, Nevada, and Memphis, Tenn. He also enjoyed watching Western shows on television and kept up with his yard work keeping everything nice and neat. He loved his pet Boston Terriers and Homer’s passion in life were his grandchildren and great grandchildren as they were the apple of his eye.

He shall be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Recice Hood and Margie Ila Hood McNeal daughter Tammy Mc Neal sisters Margie Jouett and Trudy Couch. Survivors spouse of 41 years Margaret S. Mc Neal of Levelland. Daughter Felicha Torrez of Lubbock. Sons Leonard McNeal, Scooter McNeal, Dusty McNeal, and Cody McNeal all four of Lubbock and John Salazar of Harlingen, Tx. Nine grand children 13 great grandchildren two great great grandchildren.
