TWDB approves two financial resolutions for City of Slaton

On Wednesday, the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $336,735 to the City of Slaton (Lubbock County), consisting of $165,000 in financing and $171,735 in principal forgiveness, from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) Lead Service Line Replacement Program.

The City will use the assistance to complete a lead service line inventory.

In addition to the loan forgiveness, the City could save approximately $243,000 over the life of the loan by using the DWSRF.

With the assistance approved today, the City will be reimbursed for the costs of completing a lead service line inventory of its distribution system for 2,169 connections.

Additionally, the TWDB approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $4,098,917 to the City of Slaton (Lubbock County), consisting of $3,200,000 in financing and $898,917 in principal forgiveness, from the DWSRF.

The City will use the assistance for the planning, design, and construction of a water system improvement project.

In addition to the loan forgiveness, the City could save approximately $981,000 over the life of the loan by using the DWSRF.

With the assistance approved today, the City will replace a 75,000-gallon elevated storage tank and install advanced metering infrastructure in its distribution system to improve metering accuracy.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood mitigation, and agricultural water conservation projects.
