Gary Chavez, 65, of Whitharral went home to be with the Lord on November 21 , 2024.
Gary was born on November 17, 1959 in Levelland, Texas to parents Jose Salomon and Orovea Eva Chavez. He graduated from Whitharral High School. He married his best friend and love of his life Maria Lilia Barrera, on March 14, 1981 in Whitharral. He worked for Trico Machine Shop and worked as a machinist and welder in Levelland for several years.
His hobbies were working outside trimming trees and listening to hard rock music and attending his grandchildrens sports events. Gary spent quality time with all his family and friends. What Gary would consider a “good day” when his favorite teams, the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Tech University anf Whitharral Panthers would win their games. Gary was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father and grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Jose Salomon and Orovea Leal Chavez; his 3 brothers; Ramiro Chavez, Eddie Chavez and Luis Chavez.
He is survived by his spouse of 43 years; Maria Lilia Barrera Chavez of Whitharral; his sons; Joshua Michael Chavez of Whitharral and Jamie Christopher (Kara) Chavez of Whitharral; his brother, Danny Debbie) Chavez of Lubbock; his sisters; Linda Diaz and Elisa (Tony) Rodriguez both of Whitharral; hid grand children; Taylor Chavez (Zach)Mulkey, Madison Chavez, Christopher Chavez and a host of nieces and nephews.
