Fa La La makes annual return

The highly anticipated Fa La La event hosted by the Levelland Chamber of Commerce will be held at the Mallet Event Center, December 12, from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

This will be the 12th annual Fa La La event with the theme for this year being, “In My Queen Era.”

The event includes dinner, door prizes, style show, shopping, a designer purse raffle and a “key to the closet” raffle.

In the past several years, the Fa La La Committee has gone with Levelland chamber member Las Brisas in Lubbock for their food option.

This year, the committee has decided to take a new approach with Levelland United and Market Street after seeing how another local event went about catering.

Instead of a full course meal, the menu will consist of unique appetizers that have been tailored to wow the attendees.

Returning due to popular demand will be musical act, “The Element.”

Brenda Becknell will be conducting the style show.

All vendors will have the choice to include some of their clothing pieces into the closet raffle.

Also, the clothing displayed during the show will be available for purchase.

The raffles will take place at the end of the night with seven designer handbags set to raffled. Every attendee will receive a bag with complimentary gifs similar to previous years.

The closet raffle will include clothes, accessories and items that have been tailored to draw excitement from the ladies in attendance.

Door prizes will be drawn through the entire event. Also, all prizes are over $50 value.

The event is sponsored with 10% of the proceeds going to the chamber and the remaining total will be put back into planning for next year’s event.

The Fa La La Committee consists of Megan Tyler, Toni Methvin, Summer Coats, Carrie Ellism, Stephanie Latham, Annette Sykora, Barbra Pinner, Kelly Read, Breann Buxkemper, Kellie McDonald, Christina Waters, Kenna Trotter and Melanie Brooks.

“If we profit, everything goes back into the event to make it bigger and better,” said Levelland Chamber of Commerce President Mary Siders. “The event only happens because of this tremendous group of ladies who plan this event all year long. We meet one to times a month and they put in the time to solicit sponsorships.”

Siders explained that the event is able to happen due to the sponsorships as it takes a lot of resources to put together an event this of Fa La La.

“It is a fun tradition and many companies use this event as a reward or Christmas present for their female employees,” explained Siders. “Every year we get a lot of notoriety and have people from the surrounding area wanting to attend. It is just a wonderful Levelland tradition.”
