The Levelland City Council will hold a regular meeting Monday, Dec. 16 at 6 p.m. at Levelland’s City Hall.
After the pledge of allegiance and prayer, as well as statements by citizens, a consent agenda item will follow: Consider and take necessary action to approve the minutes of the Nov. 18, regular meeting, Nov. 25, special meeting and the Dec. 2, special meeting; Consider and take necessary action on Resolution 2024-39 extending the May 29, 2024, Disaster Declaration and continued activation of the Levelland Emergency Management Plan; Consider and take necessary action on Ordinance #1085 prohibiting smoking and other use of tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, in and around City buildings and vehicles on a second reading; and Consider and take necessary action on Ordinance #1086 suspending the Dec. 19, 2024 effective date of Atmos Energy Corp., West Texas Division’s requested rate change to permit the city time to study the request and to establish reasonable rates ; approving cooperations with the cities served by Atmos West Texas and authorizing intervention in Atmos West Texas’s requested rate change proceedings before the commission; Hiring Lloyd Gosselink Attorneys and Consulting Services to negotiate with the company and direct any necessary litigation and appeals; Requiring reimbursement of cities’ rate case expenses; finding that the meeting at which this ordinance is passed is open the public as required by law; Requiring notice of this ordinance to the company and legal counsel on a second reading.
Other agenda items for the meeting will be addressed:
Consider and take necessary action to authorize participation in the 2025 Seal Coat Project and authorize the Mayor and/or City Manager to execute all necessary documents; Consider and take necessary action on the TEXAS OPIOID ABATEMENT FUND COUNCIL AND SETTLEMENT ALLOCATION TERM SHEET, Kroger Texas Settlement Agreement, the TEXAS SETTLEMENT SUBDIVISION PARTICIPATION AND RELEASE FORM and authorize the Mayor and/or City Manager to execute all necessary documents; Consider and take necessary action on all matters incident and related to approving and authorizing publication and posting of notice of intention to issue certificates of obligation, including the adoption of Resolution 2024-41 pertaining thereto; Discussion on board appointments; Discussion regarding Charter Amendment election and update on Charter committee progress; City Manager Report: Staff Updates, Project Updates, Staff/ Citizen recognition, Items of Community Interest. No action will be taken; Convene into executive session in accordance with Texas Government Code §551.074 to deliberate the appointment, employment, evaluation, duties, discipline or dismissal of a public officer or employee: (City Manager); Convene into executive session in accordance with Texas Gov’t Code §551.072 to deliberate the purchase, exchange, lease or value of real property; and Consider and take necessary action on Resolution 2024-40 regarding allocation of ARPA funding.
