Graveside services for Donald “Don” Clyde Cook, 69, of Levelland, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, at Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock, under the direction of Krestridge Funeral Home of Levelland.
He passed away December 2, 2022.
Don was born May 2, 1953, to Maxine and Hubert V. Cook, in Levelland.
He is a Levelland High School graduate, Class of ‘71.
Don continued his education at South Plains College and Sam Houston State University with his bachelor’s degree.
In 1975, he joined the Houston Police Department and was assigned to traffic control.
Don then became an undercover narcotic officer and was finally promoted to a homicide detective.
While a policeman, Don earned his law degree at Houston Law School and moved to Dallas to work for an investigation firm and later as a prosecutor for automotive violations.
Don transferred to the Corpus Christi Police Department until his retirement.
After returning to Levelland, he took photography classes at SPC and won several blue ribbons and a best in show at the Lubbock Panhandle Fair for his photographs.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert V. Cook.
He is survived by his mother, Maxine Cook; brother, David Cook and wife, Penny; and nephew, Tower Cook and wife, Tiffany.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church or Salvation Army.
