Funeral services for Maria A. Rodriguez, of Levelland will be Monday, June 12, 2023 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Levelland with Father Jonathan Phillips officiating. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, June 11 at Head Duarte Funeral Home. Interment will follow at City of Levalland Cemetery in Levelland, Texas.
Maria was born to Antonio Figueroa and Petra Rodriguez De Avalos in Torreon Coahuila, Mexico on March 10, 1932.
She married Jose Perez Rodriguez in Torreon Coahuila, Mexico in 1950, twelve children were born from this union.
She was a custodian at South Elementary in Levelland for twenty years, she also owned and operated a family restaurant. She read her rosary daily and made sure to kiss all her grandchildren’s pictures nightly before going to bed. She loved playing scratch off tickets, going to the casinos and playing bingo. She was an excellent cook and a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Maria was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.
Maria was proceeded in death by her parents Antonio Avalos Figueroa and Petra Chairez Rodriguez De Avalos, her spouse of forty-two years Jose Perez Rodriquez, daughter Elsa Rodriguez, sisters Engracia Rosales and Esperanza Cruz, brothers Carlos Avalos, Casimero Avalos, and Antonio Avalos, grandson Juan Rodriguez Jr. and great grandson Mason Rodriguez.
She is survived by three daughters Sylvia Flores (Julio Garcia Ramirez) of San Antonio, Indelisa (Eli Bazan and Veronica (Alvarez) both of Levelland, four sons Juan (Gladis) Rodriguez of Ft. Worth, Jesus (Virginia) Rodriguez. Guadalupe (Vickie) Rodriguez, Antonio Rodriguez and Felipe (Adriana) Rodriguez all four of Levelland, one sister Ermelinda Ayala of Phoenix Arizona, brother Lorenzo Avalos of California, thirty grandchildren, thirty three great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
