Church service for Gerald Ramsey, age 87,of Morton, Texas, is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Monday, February 26, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Morton with Bryan Pinson of Midland, Texas officiating. Burial will be in Morton Memorial Cemetery. Gerald died Thursday, February 22, 2024 in Lubbock, Texas. He was born June 8, 1936 in Morton to Stevenson Adlia and Cora Almeda (Lisenbee) Ramsey. He married Neoma Stowe in Morton on June 3, 1955.
Gerald was a life long member of the First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, choir member and a servant of the Lord. He was an accomplished artist specializing in oil painting. Gerald owned Ramsey’s Food Store for many years. and was a Cochran County Commissioner for 12 years. Retirement was not in his vocabulary, and he continued to work in several business endeavors until his death. Gerald is preceded in death by his wife, Neoma; a son, Grady Michael Ramsey; his parents; and two sisters, Joyce Marshall and Geraldine Taylor.
Gerald is survived by his daughter, Renee Silhan and her husband, Danny of Lubbock, Texas; three sisters, Belva Stokes (Vernon) of Midland, Texas, Sue Pinson (Jack) of Brownfield, Texas and Peggy Anderson (Buster) of Arlington, Texas; two grandchildren, Elise Voss and her husband, Evan and Whitney Silhan; and four greatgrandchildren, Britton Voss, Bryndel Voss, Brooks Voss and Maeven Kenady. The family would like to thank Grayce Enhanced Hospice Care and Wilshire Place House 1 and their caring staff.
