Juan A. Resendez,72 of Levelland passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2023.
A rosary service will be held Monday, May 29, 2023 at 7 p.m. at Head Duarte Funeral Home in Levelland. A memorial service will be held for M r . Resendez at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Father Jonathan Phillips officiating.
Juan was born May 5, 1951 IN Lytle, Texas to Jesus and Amelia Alaquinez Resendez.
He married Estella Cirilo, on January 15, 1972 in Morton, Texas and six children were born to this union. They moved to Levelland from Morton in 1978 where Juan lived until his death.
Juan worked as a Cotton Farmer for Jerry Myatt in Levelland for several years. He enjoyed farming, yard work, barbecuing and cooking outdoors for his family. He loved listening to his favorite Tejano band La Mafia. In his younger years he spent weekends with his wife Estella dancing at the Fronteriso Dance Hall in Lubbock, Texas. He was a long-time member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church Juan was a wonderful son, husband, brother, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Jesus and Amelia Alaquinez Resendez, his spouse of 38 eight years Estella Resendez, one son Michael Resendez, three sisters Florencia Reyes, Rosamaria Salzar and Esther Leal, four brothers Benny Resendez, Cruz Resendez, Raymond Resendez and Jesse Resendez.
He is survived by his daughters Rosalinda Resendez (Cornelio) Reyna, of Ropesville, Angie (Rafel) Ortega and Susie (Richard) Gonzales both of Levelland, two sons Johnny Resendez Jr. and Manuel (Becky) Resendez both of Levelland, twenty-three grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and two sisters Hortencia Montanez of Levelland and Juana Leal of Lubbock.
Interment will be at the City of Levelland Cemetery in Levelland under the direction of Head Duarte Funeral Home.
