Memorial service for Vivian (Vestal) Nebhut, 91 , of Morton is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, October 26, at Morton Church of Christ with Joey Pierce of Levelland, officiating.
Vivian died Monday, October 23, 2023 in Morton. She was born August 26, 1932 in Bailey County, Texas to Robert Allen and Viola (Waggoner) Vestal. She married Dexter Nebhut in Bula, Texas on June 12, 1950.
Vivian worked for the City of Morton for many years. She was an amazing cook and made excellent pies. Vivian was a talented seamstress and loved puzzles.
She was a caregiver for many and took care of her own mother for years. Vivian was very active in her kids’ school events and sports. She supported Morton sports for decades, including feeding the football team prior to home games in her home.
Vivian was the District Club Woman of the Year in 1968-69. She was a member of Morton Church of Christ, and taught Sunday School.
She was a very social person, and loved to frequent the Senior Center in Morton.
Vivian is preceded in death by her husband, Dexter; her parents; five sisters, Valera Young, Beatrice Kitterman, Florence Hancock, Janet Sikes and Dolores Drake; and four brothers, Burnie Vestal, Gurnie Vestal, Kenneth Vestal and R.A. Vestal Jr.
Vivian is survived by her son, Barry Nebhut and his wife, Patty of Austin, Texas; Teri Rohmfeld and her husband, Tom of Morton, Texas, Deletta Grusendorf and her husband, Gerald of Frisco, Texas and Janella Smyth and her husband, Jot of Fuquay Varina, North Carolina; 10 grandchildren, Andrea Nebhut, Sarah Nebhut, Tyson Mankin, Christy Lewis, Jennifer Smyth, Julia Smyth Puryear, Cory Mankin, Christopher Grusendorf, Eric Grusendorf and Shana Duncan; and nine great-grandchildren.
