JERRY FOWLER
Jerry Wayne Fowler, 77, of Granbury, Texas passed away on April 20, 2026. Jerry was born on Sept. 24, 1948, to Jo Ellen and Howard Fowler in Lubbock, Texas. Jerry grew up in Levelland along with his beloved siblings, Sid and Kathy. His childhood was filled with his love for horses, baseball, hunting and fishing. After achieving the highest honor of Eagle Scout with Boy Scouts of America, he was further recognized as an Order of the Arrow. He graduated from Levelland High School in 1966 and attended and played college baseball at South Plains College, followed by Jacksonville Baptist College and finally, Texas Tech University.
In Nov. 1971, Jerry married Cathy Stephens of Lamesa, Texas. Jerry and Cathy went on to have three children, Christy, Emily and Matt.
As a young man, he worked in the family business, Simmons Machine Shop, as well as serving as a drilling rig superintendent at Verna Drilling. He later went on to own Eve’s Dress Shop along with wife, Cathy, and was a partner in Canco Pump. Jerry was a 32nd Degree Mason in Levelland for many years. He was active in coaching and supporting his three children in their many sports over the years.
In 2000, Jerry and Cathy moved to Granbury, Texas. He enjoyed an active lifestyle of cheering on his grandchildren in sports, spending time with close friends and supporting his local American Legion Chapter. Jerry’s favorite moniker was Grandpa to his cherished grandchildren. He spent hours teaching them card games, giving sage advice, and being their biggest fan. In recent years, he was passionate about playing shuffleboard, leading game nights, and enjoying a cup of coffee at the Legion with his friends.
Jerry was predeceased in death by his parents, Jo Ellen and Howard Fowler of Levelland, his paternal grandparents, Wadkie Matthew and Ola Mae Fowler of Levelland, and his maternal grandparents, Lola and Clarence Simmons of Lubbock, Texas.
Jerry is survived by his children, Christy Fowler of Dallas, Texas, Emily Fowler Vafa and her husband, Daniel of Dallas, Texas, Matthew Fowler and his wife, Morgan of Eastland, Texas and his grandchildren, Avery and Logan Vafa, and Luke and Lincoln Fowler. In addition, he is survived by his siblings, Sid Fowler of Washington D.C. and Kathy Fowler Palmer of Sundown, Texas. Jerry has many brothers and sisters-inlaw, nephews, nieces and cousins who he loved dearly.
Services will be held at Krestridge Funeral Home in Levelland, Texas on April 27, 2026, at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Scottish Rite for Children an organization Jerry felt strongly about.
