Melvin Ray Glenn

Melvin Ray Glenn, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, peacefully passed away on February 5, in his hometown of Ropesville at the age of 86. Born on November 26, 1937, in Hockley County, Texas to the late Clarence Fulton and Frances Dollie (Macha) Glenn. Following high school, Melvin enlisted in the United States Army and served with honor. He married Glenda Jewel Whitener on December 29, 1958. Melvin was a hardworking man who found his passion as a farmer. He was an active member of his community and his church. He served as a Deacon at Ropesville First Baptist Church and was a committed leader for the Royal Ambassadors, leaving a lasting impact on generations of young boys. Melvin a kind and compassionate nature shone through in everything he did.

Melvin will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 65 years, Glenda Glenn. He leaves behind his three sons, Calvin (Gail) Glenn, Kyle Glenn, and Coby (Catrina) Glenn as well as his grandchildren, Joshua Glenn, Tristan Ryan, Kortney Glenn, Sean Glenn, Cole Glenn, Nicole (Matthew) Nichols, Troy Jackson, and Claire Glenn. Along with his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by his brothers, Weldon and Donald Glenn and sister, Carolyn Zbonski.

A visitation will take place at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers on February 11, from 3p.m.–5pm. A Celebration of Life service will be held on February 12, at 10 am at the First Baptist Church of Ropesville, followed by burial at Ropes Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial donations to the First Baptist Church, Ropesville, 403 Main Street, Ropesville, Texas 79358 in his memory.
