Florene V. Sanders, 89, passed away Sept. 7, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas. She was born on Dec. 5, 1935, to Johnny Ray and Ella Mae (Palmer) McDowell, in Lamesa, Texas. Flo married Eldon Edward Sanders on Feb. 24, 1964.
Florene was a devoted housewife and the ‘Queen” of cooking fried chicken and making deviled eggs. She enjoyed planting flowers and gardening.
Flo was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon Edward Sanders; and a daughter Ann Mayo.
Those remaining to cherish her memories and carry on her legacy are, her son, Lonnie (Cynthia) Sanders; nine grandchildren, Carrie Self and family, Misty Sanders and family, Justin, Keegan, Di-Senya, and Chayman Sanders, Cody Mayo and family, and Brandi and Melissa: 21 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; four sisters, Jerry Nolen, Pat Sanders, Mary Lane, and Cindy Harper; and two brothers, Richard and Jack.
The family of Florene V. Sanders will honor and celebrate her life with a memorial service at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 4, with officiant Travis Hart, at the Lone Star Cowboy Church, 1309 E. FM 1585 in Lubbock, TX 79423.
