In remembrance of Finley L. Garrett

Finley L. Garrett, loving husband , father, grandpa, brother and friend entered into eternal rest on April 29, 2023 at the age of 88.

Fin as he was lovingly called, was born in Levelland Texas on December 2, 1934 to parents Obadiah and Louise Garrett, he was the oldest son. He accepted Christ and was Baptized at an early age. Fin rededicated his life to Christ on January 29, 2023.

Fin graduated from George Washington Carver High School where there were eight students in his class. After graduating high school he proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served 26 years. His duty station included England, Turkey and Germany he also served in the Vietnam War.

Following his retirement from the United State Air Force he was employed with the Veterans Administration (VA) and Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for 24 years.

His hobbies included golfing, fishing, working on “His” yard, playing Pinochle, watching sports, football, and his favorite basketball team the Spurs, watching action and Western movies, and just being at home.

Finley was a quiet spirt with a great sense of humor. He always had a joke or would say something to make you laugh. He loved trying different restaurants with Chinese food being his favorite.

Fin is preceded in death by his Father, Mother, brother, Obezonia “Little Boy” Garrett and sisters, Carrie Frances, Ida Lee, and Allean.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 54 years Leslie F. Garrett and sons Mike (Melina), and Marc Garrett, granddaughters Mariah Garrett and NeKhaiya Saez, Sisters Dorothea Brown and Liz Weatherall. Fin was a beloved uncle and is survived by many nieces and nephews who affectionately called him “Uncle Buddy”, his awesome loving neighbors (Shoal Creek Creeps), and numerous close relatives and friends.

FINLEY L. GARRETT
