Loboettes sweep Estacado in lively road environment

The Levelland Loboettes went into enemy territory and pulled off a huge sweep against their district foe the Lubbock Estacado Matadors this past Tuesday. The Loboettes won the three sets 25-13, 25-20 and 25-17 to improve to 2-4 in district play and 9-18 overall. Levelland truly dominated the night and controlled each set, and any time Estacado would get momentum, the Loboettes would rip it away from them with a quick response. In a great all-around team performance several individuals stepped up big in the winning effort. Senior Trinity Wafer led the team in kills with 11, also recording two aces and a block. The freshman duo of London Branch and Lola Potter had an awesome performance as well as Branch led the team in service points with 10 and Potter had three aces. The Levelland student section also deserves a big shoutout because they were louder than Estacado’s home student section as the road team. Any time Estacado would get loud, Levelland would get louder, and it made for a lively game environment, which made the win even sweeter. Following Tuesday’s match, the Loboettes now sit in a three-way tie with San Angelo Lakeview and Snyder for 4th in the district standings. They’re behind Lubbock Cooper Liberty, Frenship Memorial and Big Spring, in that order, while Estacado now sits at the bottom as the lone team with only one district win this season. The Loboettes will look to parlay this district win into another couple as they are on the road again this weekend at San Angelo Lakeview before returning home on Tuesday against Lubbock Cooper Liberty. A win over SA Lakeview would be huge to move up in the district standings and it would provide great momentum for when Liberty comes into town. Come out and support Levelland volleyball at Levelland High School this Tuesday at 6 p.m. as they look to take down a really good Liberty team.
