Maidens fall to Tahoka, 10-0

The Morton Maidens traveled for a district softball matchup on the road against the Tahoka Lady Bulldogs this past Tuesday night, resulting in the Maidens losing 10-0 across five innings.

In the team stats, Tahoka bested Morton 5-0 in hits, 4-3 in walks drawn and 1-6 in errors committed, a combination that was too much for the Maidens to overcome in the loss.

“We had one of our best defensive games so far this year,” Morton Head Softball Coach Martin Adams said. “Tahoka did a great job of manufacturing runs. Our bats were silent all night and eventually Tahoka took advantage of that.”

On the quiet offensive night, kudos to second baseman Alondra Gomez, right fielder Amaris Zapata and first baseman Aubree Ra - mon for still finding a way to get on base, as all three girls drew a walk in the game.

On the mound, Audrie Garcia pitched the whole game, holding Tahoka to four earned runs on five hits and four walks, while striking out four batters.

The loss drops the Maidens to 4-11 overall and 1-3 in district play this season. They return to action over the weekend against New Home before hosting Post on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
