Week two of the Levelland News Press 2025 Football Contest has concluded and the results are in.
This week’s winner once again came down to a tiebreaker score as two contestants went 16-4 on their matchup picks with only two points separating them.
The tiebreaker was the total score between Levelland and Pecos, which was 62 points.
Jerry Boggs won this week with his tiebreaker score of 47 over Sergio Cardiel’s tiebreaker score of 45.
Congratulations not only to Jerry for winning this week, but both contestants for nailing their picks.
They were the only two contestants to get 16 picks correct, but six people were right behind them with 15-5 records as the contest was extremely competitive this week.
The worst record on the week was 8-12, which was one of two contestants below .500 on their picks.
Here’s a few fun tidbits about this week’s contest.
This week many of you had misplaced faith in the Kansas City Chiefs as only two people correctly picked the Los Angeles Chargers to beat them.
Great job by Kristy Sanders and Donna Pugh on sensing the upset.
Two other matchups that most people also lost were SMU vs. Baylor and Mississippi State vs. Arizona State.
Baylor and Arizona State pulled off the upsets against ranked opponents to the surprise of majority of you contestants, so awesome job by those who saw it coming.
After another fun week of matchups, we have an unopposed leader in the contest currently.
Margaret Gleason leads the Football Contest with an overall record of 30-9.
Behind her, three contestants are tied for second with a 29-10 record and five people are tied for third at 28-11.
They may have the upper hand now, but seven more contestants have 25 or more correct picks, which means it’s still up for grabs big time.
This is just a reminder to everyone to read over the contest rules again, so you fully understand them.
The prizes will be rewarded at the conclusion of all 10 weeks of the Football Contest, based on overall records.
If you do not enter in the contest all 10 weeks, you cannot win the prizes, but I will still gladly grade your picks.
Also, if you want to check your picks for mistakes or your overall record, I will gladly look for you if come in person to the office or you can email sports@levellandnews.net.
