Chamber’s Cotton & Crude Fest relocates to Oxy Sports Complex

The Levelland Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its annual Cotton and Crude Fest at the Oxy Sports Complex on September 20 featuring several country artists.

Headlining the concert will be Warner Music Nashville recording artist Randall King. Other performances will include those by Will Banister, the Hub City Drifters and SPC Jukebox.

“This festival is about more than the music – it’s about bringing our community together,” Mary Siders, Director of Levelland Chamber of Commerce said. “We’re proud to welcome Randall King home to the South Plains to headline a night that celebrates Levelland and West Texas pride.”

King, a Texas native and honkytonk artist, has performed across the U.S., U.K. and Europe. He also has a over 1.2 million monthly listeners on Spotify and more than 275,000 TikTok followers. His hit singles include, You In A Honkytonk, Hey Cowgirl and Mirror, Mirror. He also released an album last year called Into the Neon.

“Randall King is Wet Texas through and through,” Siders said. “He’s the perfect headliner for this event, not just because of his success, but because of what he represents to this community.”

The concert will also include a performance by singer songwriter Will Banister. Banister gained international recognition when his song Find a New Home was featured in the film Cry Macho. His music is influenced by country music of the 1990s and is fiddle and steel driven.

“Dane Dewbre is our [the Chamber’s Board of Directors] Chair, and he’s very much connected to the outdoor concerts,” Siders said. “I hope to give him the credit because he’s taken a lot of big leaps in hiring name artists and investing more than we’ve ever invested. We upped our game on the level of artists that we’re bringing.”

Previously, the Cotton and Crude Fest took place on the square downtown. However, the Chamber Board decided to move the concert this year to the Oxy Sports Complex in order to have more space and not block the streets in front of downtown businesses.

“There’s more room, safety wise, there’s more parking and it doesn’t deter, at any point, from any business opportunities for any of the merchants on the square,” Siders said. “Our hope is that it will make it easier for the logistical team like the city, the law enforcement and the emergency management.”

Siders mentioned that they are still taking sponsorships and have places for vendors, such as food trucks, for the event.

“Of course, our goal is always that local churches and local organizations fill those spots because we’d like to keep all the revenue local if we can,” Siders said. “But we’re also very connected to the region and Lubbock, and we know there will be some outside vendors, and they’re welcome to join us as well.”

Advanced tickets for the event are available now at $45, and tickets will be $55 at the gate; however, children under 10 will be admitted free. Cooler passes are also available for $20, and guests are reminded that pets and glass containers will not be allowed.

“We wanted to bring events to our community that were conducive to more than just one age group,” Siders said. “No one can say there’s nothing to do in Levelland because they’re going to have that [the Yucca Bloom] vendor show, the Wallace is going to have their opening and then we’re going to have the Cotton and Crude, so lots to do in Levelland that weekend.”
