The 286th Judicial District Attorney’s Office announced that a Hockley County Grand Jury convened Oct. 17 and returned 10 indictments after considering cases against 13 people.
Myles Andrew Casey, 32, was charged with assault of family, household member with previous conviction IAT. A $5,000 bond was issued. The indictment stated the event occurred on or about Aug. 10.
Enhancements on the indictment listed four previous convictions.
On or about Nov. 16, 2011, Casey was finally convicted of a felony offense of assault of a family member or household member by impeding breathing in the 91st Judicial District Court of Eastland County.

Yasenia Martinez, 20, was charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 2, less than one gram. A $3,000 bond was issued.
On or about June 10, Martinez intentionally possessed less than one gram of a controlled substance, namely tetrahydrocannabinol.
Maria Anita Salas, 39, was charged with evading arrest or detention with a vehicle. A $3,000 bond was issued.
On or about March 16, Salas intentionally fled from someone the defendant knew was a peace officer who was attempting to lawfully arrest or detain the defendant.
James Dyllan Bridges, 24, was charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1/1-b, less than one gram. A $5,000 bond was issued.
On or about July 16, Bridges intentionally possessed less than one gram of a controlled substance, namely cocaine. Austin Grant, 27, was charged with harassment of a public servant and obstruction or retaliation. A $4,000 bond was issued. The indictment stated the first count happened on or about July 1.
A second count stated on or about July 1, Grant knowingly threatened to harm another, and the unlawful act was committed on account of, or in retaliation for, the individual’s service or status as a public servant. Enhancements on the indictment listed three previous convictions.
On or about Aug. 10, 2017, Grant was finally convicted of the felony offense of possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1, more than one gram but less than four grams, in the 154th Judicial District Court of Lamb County.
On or about Aug. 10, 2017, Grant was finally convicted of the felony offense of assault of a public servant, peace officer or judge, in the 154th Judicial District Court of Lamb County.
On or about March 9, 2021, Grant was finally convicted of the felony offense of evading arrest or detention with a vehicle in the 154th Judicial District Court of Lamb County.
Oscar Simon Martinez, 35, was charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1/1-b, less than one gram. A $2,500 bond was issued.
On or about June 21, Martinez intentionally possessed less than one gram of a controlled substance, namely cocaine.
Armando Sanchez, 36, was charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1/1-b, less than one gram. A $5,000 bond was issued.
On or about May 7, Sanchez intentionally possessed less than one gram of a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine.
Ivan Guzman-Zaragoza, 21, was charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 2, greater than or equal to four grams but less than 400 grams. A $3,500 bond was issued.
Or on about April 16, Guzman-Zaragoza intentionally possessed more than four grams but less than 400 grams of a controlled substance, namely tetrahydrocannabinol.
Justin Tyler Smith, 28, was charged with sexual abuse of a disabled person, continuous. A $75,000 bond was issued. The indictment stated the event occurred on or about Sept. 15.
Melodie Marie Rodriguez, 37, was charged with fraudulent use, possession of identifying information, number of items greater than five but less than 10, and possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1/1-b, less than one gram. A $6,000 bond was issued.
A first count stated on or about July 1, Rodriguez obtained or possessed five items of identifying information of the complainant with intent to harm or defraud another and without the consent or effective consent of the complainant.
A second count stated on or about July 1, Rodriguez intentionally possessed less than one gram of a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine.
Enhancements on the indictment listed two previous convictions.
On or about Dec. 14, 2016, Rodriguez was finally convicted of the felony offense of robbery in the 286th Judicial District Court of Hockley County.
On or about Dec. 14, 2016, Rodriguez was finally convicted of the felony offense of burglary of a habitation in the 286th Judicial District Court of Hockley County.
