Hockley County chooses IHC options

The Hockley County Commissioners’ Court approve to stop the use of IHC prescription pharmacy CVS, Monday due to rising cost.

Jail tier one pharmacy costs at CVS is $125 while United and Wal-Mart pharmacies cost $150. Jail tier five pharmacy costs $1350 at CVS pharmacies compared to $850 at United and Wal-Mart pharmacies.

The county will continue to use Wal-Mart and United pharmacies.

The court tabled the potential action to approve the rate change amendment from Integrated Prescription Management concerning Texas IHC rate changes because the court would like to wait for exact numbers before making a decision.

The court approved a lineitem transfer request from the Sheriffs’s Office to move budgeted funds from detention staff salary to part-time salary. Hockley County Sheriff Ray Scifres explained there will not be any new expenditures for the county since the budgeted funds will be moved to another department. The Sheriff’s Office is anticipating hiring a senior college student as a part-time employee.

The court heard an update from Danny Barrett of Perdue Brandon Fielder Collins & Mott LLP on collections for the county. Barrett reported more than $130,000 collected and returned to the county.

The court approved an outof- state travel request from Ag Agent Wes Utley to attend the NACAA conference in Des Moines, Iowa.

The court tabled the action to approve the Continuation Certificate of Brandon Lewis of the Hockley County Sheriff’s Office. The paperwork listed Lewis incorrectly as a reserve deputy.

The court also approved the minutes from the special meeting held May 8, the monthly reports and the monthly bills and claims submitted through May 22 and the public assistance report.

The public assistance office approved seven applicants for rent and utilities. The report stated there are now 20 individuals on indigent health care after removing one person for fraud.
