Texas ranks 27th on highway systems

A new report showed the Texas’ highway system has dropped two spots since 2025 and now ranks at No. 27 in the country for its costeffectiveness and overall conditions.

Comptroller’s office sends out first school voucher notices

(The Texas Tribune) The comptroller’s office started notifying parents on April 22 about whether they can participate in Texas’ voucher program.More than 42,600 students will receive award notices through April 24, Acting Comptroller Kelly Hancock said in a statement.

SPC presents ‘Little Shop of Horrors’

South Plains College Theatre students will perform Little Shop of Horrors at the Helen DeVitt Jones Theater on the Levelland campus. The free show will start at 7:30 p.m. each day from April 29 to May 2. Reservations are encouraged but not required.

Electric vehicle sales decline in Texas

The transition from gaspowered cars to electric vehicles has faced challenges for drivers who may not want to switch. Popular EV models, such as Tesla's, have been on the market for years, and Tesla’s founder and CEO, Elon Musk, said “the future is fully electric,” in an interview with Inc.

The Levelland City Council General and Special Election is set for May 2 Polling location is at the Hockley County Tax Office at 624 Avenue H. from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.Voters of District A will be choosing a city council member to represent that district.

Chamber to hold annual golf fundraiser

The Chamber of Commerce is set to hold its 26th annual golf tournament on Monday, May 11, at the Levelland Country Club. The morning flight will start at 8 a.m., a putting contest will take place at 12:30, and the afternoon flight will begin at 2 p.m.

South Plains graduation ceremonies set for May 8

South Plains College will hold two graduation ceremonies on May 8 at the Texan Dome on campus. Two ceremonies will take place, with the first at 9:30 a.m. and the second at 1 p.m.Students who are eligible for graduation should receive an email regarding registration.
