The Levelland Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors (LEDC) will be holding a regular meeting Thursday, October 10 beginning at 12 p.m. at City Hall.

TDEM provides Georgia hurricane recovery aid

On Monday, Governor Greg Abbott announced that he directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) to deploy emergency power generators to assist with Hurricane Helene recovery efforts in Georgia following a request from the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency.

On October 1, members from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) escorted fallen Trooper Kevin Ramirez Vasquez, from Resthaven Funeral Home, to Lubbock Aero.Members of the Lubbock Police Department and Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office assisted with traffic direction along the route.

SPC Regent interest letter deadline approaches Oct. 3

The South Plains College (SPC) Board of Regents are still accepting letters of interest with the intent to fill the Position Two vacancy spot within the group through the appointment process.The board is now accepting letters of interest for the position until October 3 at 4 p.m.

Forest Service hosts annual ‘Sisters in Fire’ event

Texas A&M Forest Service hosted the fourth annual Sisters in Fire event on Saturday, Sept. 28, at Sam Houston State University Bearkat Camp.Twenty-three young women between the ages of 12 and 18 from across 23 Texas counties participated.

9/27/24 – DISPATCHED 3:07 A.M. – CLEARED 3:19 A.M. – LEVELLANDThe Levelland Fire Department was dispatched to a gas smell near West Avenue. The units could smell the odor while enroute and searched for a source in the area. The units were unable to locate the smell and cleared the scene.
