Texas extends CHIP coverage

It was announced last Wednesday, Texas is extending postpartum coverage to 12 months for eligible Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) recipients through the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC), effective March 1.

Texas sales tax generates slight February increase

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced state sales tax revenue totaled $3.69 billion in February, .05% more than in February 2023. The majority of February sales tax revenue is based on sales made in January and remitted to the agency in February.

TWC funds TIRA program

The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is awarding nearly $10 million through the new Texas Industry Recognized Apprenticeship (TIRA) grant program to eligible private-sector Texas employers.

IRS tax service sees increased use

The Internal Revenue Service’s Free File Guided Tax Software service has seen a yearover- year increase of nearly 10% so far this filing season, according to new statistics released today. Through Feb. 24, 943,000 taxpayers had filed tax returns this tax season through IRS Free File, a 9.

DISTRICT SPELLING BEE- LMS 5th-Grader Caleb Willey won the Levelland District Bee by spelling the word “composition”. The Bee included students from Capitol and South as well. The Bee went for 10 rounds. The Runner-Up was LMS 6th-Grader Katherine Bunker. Willey will continue on his spelling journey and compete in the Regional Bee in Lubbock in March.
