1/3/2024 - DISPATCHED 2:08 A.M. - CLEARED 4:52 A.M. ROPESVILLE The HCSO requested LFD units to assist in a semi versus cow motor vehicle accident near Highway 82 and Foster Road. LFD contacted Smyer FD while enroute as there were multiple animals that had been struck by two semi units.

Levelland Council plans uniform election order

During the January 8 council meeting, the Levelland City Council is slated to order the next Uniform General Election. This year’s election will be held on May 4, 2024. The City of Levelland will have the Mayor position and two council positions on the ballot: District A and District C.

12/30/2023 - HOCKLEY COUNTY Deputies with the HCSO were dispatched to the 4000 block of India Road in reference to a report of burglary that had already occurred. 12/30/2023 - HOCKLEY COUNTY Deputies with the HCSO responded to the 6000 block of Highway 114 in reference to reckless driving.

DPS, Lubbock plan Citizens Academy

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), in conjunction with the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office (LSO), Lubbock Police Department (LPD) and the Lubbock County District Attorney’s Office (LCDA), is now accepting applications for the next Citizens Academy, which begins February 27.

Sundown City Council sets meeting Tuesday

The Sundown City Council will be holding a regular meeting Tuesday, January 9 beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall.

Fourth annual GRACE week begins Jan. 8

First Lady Cecilia Abbott announced Thursday that the Governor’s Response Against Child Exploitation (GRACE) initiative will host the fourth annual Week of Prayer to End Human Trafficking from January 8 through January 14.
