12/27/2023 - DISPATCHED 7:05 A.M. - CLEARED 7:17 A.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The LFD was contacted for a possible gas leak that was caused by a vehicle that struck a line near a business on West Avenue. Fire personnel investigated the leak and turned off the gas until Atmos could arrive on scene.

LPD Report

12/21/2023 - 1200 block of Avenue A - 6:52 P.M. An LPD officer executed a warrant service at a residence within the area. The subject was taken into custody and taken to the Hockley County Jail. 12/23/2023 - 100 block of Hickory Street - 11:23 P.M.

HCSO Report

12/20/2023 - HOCKLEY COUNTY HCSO deputies responded to the 800 block of 4th Street in Smyer regarding EMS personnel requesting deputy assistance. 12/17/2023 - HOCKLEY COUNTY The HCSO took a report of a sexual assault that had possibly occurred in Hockley County.

Texas’ annual employment growth celebrated

Governor Greg Abbott recently celebrated the strength of Texas’ economy following the release of November employment data showing Texas continues to lead the nation in annual jobs growth, adding more jobs over the last 12 months than any state in the nation.

Dickens rollover results in death

According to the Department of Public Safety (DPS), a Monday night rollover in Dickens County resulted in the death of one individual. The DPS report states Christina Ann Pecina, 42, of Spur was traveling north on Highway 70, two miles south of Dickens around 9 p.m.
