Levelland City Council meeting set for April 13

The Levelland City Council will be meeting on April 13 for a regular meeting and welcome reception for LFD Fire Chief Brian P. Horton.The reception and swearing in of the fire chief will be held prior to the meeting and offer Levelland residents an opportunity to meet the new fire chief.

HCCWB targets child abuse prevention

The Hockley County Child Welfare Board (HCCWB) held an event at the courthouse on Wednesday to raise awareness against child abuse.County Judge Sharia Baldridge and Mayor Breann Buxkemper spoke at the event, along with Tylyn Rushing, president of the Hockley County Child Welfare Board.

City’s Centennial Celebration set for April 11

Plans are being finalized for the City of Levelland Centennial Celebration. April 11 will be a day of history, food, entertainment, fireworks, and fun.The celebration will kick off downtown with the Centennial Parade. Parade line-up will begin at 9 a.m. The parade will start at 10:00am.

LHS advances to UIL academic regionals

Levelland High School students have advanced to the UIL Region I 4A academic competition after winning or placing at Bi-District in their respective contests.The Regional meet will be held towards the end of April at Frenship Memorial High School.

DPS starts distracted driver campaign

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) will be increasing patrols from April 6 to April 13 in its annual Distracted Driving traffic enforcement campaign – looking for drivers who are texting, failing to Move Over or Slow down and are otherwise distracted behind the wheel.
