Texas Education Freedom Accounts hits record applicants

The record-setting demand for school choice in Texas hit a new milestone with more than 100,000 students having applied for Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA) in less than two weeks.

SPC student pianist to perform at Carnegie Hall

As a music education and performance major at South Plains College, Jonah Sidney Campa-Peters has honed his piano skills among talented peers and mentors. His hard work at SPC will soon put him on stage at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Students showcased their creativity, technique, and sense of symmetry as they applied what they’ve learned in Mrs. Tori Henderson Williams’ class. Texas A&M Forest Service awards $14M to fire departments

Texas A&M Forest Service approved an additional $14 million in funding for grants to Texas volunteer fire departments this past Friday.The Levelland Fire Department received $25,000 for personal protective equipment and $10,000 for training aids, as did the Whiteface Volunteer Fire Department.

A new deal has been penned between the United States and Argentina to quadruple imports of lean beef despite push back from House lawmakers and the U.S. and Texas cattle industry.The state of Texas is the nation’s largest producer of beef.

Airspace over El Paso temporarily closed

The skies over El Paso were temporarily closed after the Federal Aviation Agency posted a notice of a 10-day closure of airspace over the city “for security reasons.”On Tuesday, the FAA posted a “temporary flight restriction” order on its website on Tuesday that stated a 10-nautical-mile (11.
