Smyer, Morton fight the cold at Bobcat Relays

Smyer High School hosted the Bobcat Relays, and even with 40mph winds and frigid temperatures, both Smyer and Morton showed up and fought hard. Starting with the boys, in the 100-meter dash, Brayden Villarreal from Morton finished in first place with a time of 12.06.

Roughettes, Lady Lopes perform well in Sudan meet

The Sundown Roughettes and Whiteface Lady Lopes varsity track programs both competed at the Son Qualls Relays this past Friday at Sudan High School, resulting in both teams finishing in the top three of the team standings after numerous great performances.

The South Plains College Texans basketball team took on Northern Oklahoma College-Enid in the first round of the NJCAA Division 1 National Championship Tournament this past Sunday in Hutchinson, Kansas, resulting in a heartbreaking 81-78 overtime loss for SPC.

Lobos dominate Big Spring, 13-3

The Levelland Lobos played host to the Big Spring Steers for a district baseball matchup this past Tuesday night at the Lobo Diamond, resulting in the Lobos earning a dominant 13-3 run rule win across six innings.

IOC bans men from women’s sports

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced that beginning in 2028, women’s sports will be limited to biological females.According to an IOC press release, it is a step forward for fairness and safety in women’s athletics.

Sandlin, Igo win Sands Invitational

The Sundown Roughnecks and Roughettes golf teams both competed in the Sands Invitational at the Rockwind Golf Course in Hobbs, New Mexico, this past Monday, and they came away with two individual champions that powered both teams’ runner-up finishes.
