The Smyer Bobcats lost this past Friday’s home district game against the Plains Cowboys, 20-6, picking up their sixth straight defeat.
The Bobcats will now prepare for their challenge against the Tahoka Bulldogs. Tahoka was defeated by Sundown in their last outing.
Quarterback Skyler Pond threw for 78 yards on five of 20 attempts, with two interceptions. Ryann Gutierrez was his top target, picking up 35 receiving yards.
Other Smyer receivers included S. Rodriguez with one reception for 23 yards; Hagan Cooper, one reception for 11 yards; and Xyler Rumsey, one reception for nine yards.
Smyer had a total of 101 rushing yards on 33 carries. Rushing leaders included Skyler Pond with 67 yards; Ryann Gutierrez, 15 yards; Zyler Rumsey, 11 yards; Caleb Pearce, seven yards; and Max Benevedes, one yard.
Bobcats defensive leaders included Xyler Rumsey with six tackles and four assists; Tango Pastusek, six tackles and one interception for five yards; Caleb Pearce, two tackles and three assists; Wes Tevis, two tackles and three assists; Cash Pastusek, three tackles and one assist; James Rampy, three tackles and one assist; Sebastian Rodriguez, three tackles; Daniel Paredes, two tackles; Skyler Pond, one tackle and one assist; Max Benevedes, one tackle; Cooper Hagen, one assist and one fumble recovery; Ryann Gutierrez, one tackle.
